"I love thee to the depth and breadth and height, my soul can reach, when feeling out of sight, for the ends of being and ideal grace...I love thee with the breath, smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death."

Thankful

As Thanksgiving is approaching, I've decided to focus on the things I'm thankful for.

* My husband. He's a wonderful man that puts up with me when I'm crazy. I've never met anyone more patient than him. He has so many traits that I admire; I often find myself thinking, "Man, I wish I were more like him." He's level-headed. Thinks before he speaks.
He's extremely dedicated and an incredibly hard worker. He rarely complains. About anything. He's one of the most positive people I know. He's the best husband to me and father to Hudson that we could ever ask for and we both love him so much.

*My son. What an amazing blessing! He's pure joy. It's so exciting to see more and more of his personality every day. I can't put into words how much love I have for that little man.

*My family. The best parents, brothers, nephews, nieces, and in-laws in the world. Seriously. In the world.

*My friends. Period. I love all of you. You know who you are.

*My critters. Well, Morgan, at least. Alright, alright. O.J. too.

*My house. I love our house. I love its location. I love our yard where Morgan runs and Hudson soon will. I love our hammock and our shed and our patio. I love my new bathroom and I love my crooked walls. I even love the cracks in them. There are stories in there.
My house was here long before the noisy airport. My house was here long before the ugly office building at the end of the street. It's an interesting experience, trying to sell your house. The "issues" potential buyers have with it...those are the same reasons you remember you love it.
And you don't want to leave.

*Mine and my family's health. You never know when it can change.

*The essentials. Roof, food and water. There are people that struggle with even those.
We have everything we need and we even have a little more. So. Thankful.

Big boy

Hudson just had his 6 month check up. He's not a happy camper right now because he got some shots....ahhh well.

I think doctors (and the general public, myself included) get very wrapped up in percentile statistics.....sigh.....but here they are, for what it's worth:

He weighed 18 lbs (50th-75th percentile)
and was 28.5 inches tall (>97th percentile)
and head circumference was 18 inches (90th-95th percentile).
His weight for length percentile is 3rd-5th...
So far, he's a tall, skinny boy.

He's doing great! He's eating around 40 oz per day...sometimes he demands more than that....so, the doctor encouraged us to increase the amount of solids we feed him.

Oh! And in other Hudson news: He got his first tooth on Monday!
Yay!

Hudson's 6 months old today!

Happy 6 month birthday, Hudson!
I can't believe he's already 6 months old! I told Darrin last night, "Only 17.5 more years to go!"
Just kidding! We are enjoying every minute with him.
Here is what he's doing now:

1) LOVES to eat. He makes happy "yum-yum" noises with bottles and with his solids.
He loves bananas. I think those are his favorite, but he likes pretty much everything.
He's eating more and wearing less, but we still go through a lot of bibs!

2) He's starting to scoot. Not crawl, but scoot. We put toys just out of his reach and the next thing you know, he's got them. He's also gotten into some interesting positions in his crib.

3) He's very strong and likes to "bridge" as Darrin calls it. I guess that's a wrestling term?
He arches his back and then sort of flips over. Does it ALL. THE. TIME. He nearly flips himself out of the carseat, out of his blue chair, off the changing table. Basically, I never take my eyes off him unless he's in his crib.

4) He loves to imitate facial expressions. Darrin has even gotten him to say "U" after he says "K, S"......some of his expressions are quite hilarious.

5) He LOVES to be naked. Nothing makes him happier when he's fussy.

6) Still no teeth, but man, is he drooling and chewing, so it should be any day now.

It's been a wonderful 6 months and we are so blessed to have Hudson for a son!

Here are some pics (hopefully they will upload) from our family picture session.
They were taken at Grapevine Botanical Gardens by Vonda Hussey.
