"I love thee to the depth and breadth and height, my soul can reach, when feeling out of sight, for the ends of being and ideal grace...I love thee with the breath, smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death."
- Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Daddy Time

Darrin has Region Band clinic and concert this weekend, so he's bonding with Hudson right now.
They're about to watch college gameday and I'm going to get out of the house for just a little while this morning and run some errands.
It's been pretty cold here the past few days, so we haven't gotten out much....just staying inside and snuggling. I've been baby-proofing as we go because there is something every day that Hudson finds that I've missed. He's obsessed with the fireplace. He tries to terrorize OJ now, too. But OJ has figured it out and usually runs away from him.
We can't wait to see Grandma and Grandpa next week!

Game on!

So, we have begun to baby-proof. Hudson is ALL OVER THE PLACE. He's getting faster at crawling every day! I can't leave him for a second. I've had to move my vintage trays because he grabs them and slams them on the floor. I had to move my vintage metal coasters (I should have seen that one coming because that's one of the first things Addison always went to when the Halls would visit!)

Just a few things I've caught him chewing on:
My foot
My shoe
The window on the patio door
Morgan
The kitchen rug
Our leather chairs in the living room
The mail and magazines
The fireplace

I'm sure there are others that I'm forgetting. He's having a lot of fun exploring our entire house. The other day, I left the guest bedroom door open and it was like Christmas for him, since that door is always closed.

We're having a blast, though! And I even managed to get some really good pics this weekend!

Critter Lovin'

I just realized it was a year ago this week that we found out we were having a boy.
I remember both of us being a little stunned, but soooo excited. We decided to stop at Target on the way home from the appointment just to buy something "boy".....we got a three pack of little blue onesies. I think we probably went out to eat that night and I was probably in bed by 8:00pm. And now it's hard to remember what life was even like before him.
He's already turning into such a little man.

Getting into everything

Well, it has begun. Hudson is pretty much crawling now. He's not real fast yet, but he's getting into everything. Time to baby-proof.

Morgan Lovin'

Hudson is "eating" poofs now (the little cheerio-like things that Gerber makes that basically dissolve in your mouth). I say "eating" because he mostly plays with them and then throws them on the floor. So I put him in his walker and give him some poofs and Morgan follows him everywhere. She's so sweet; she never tries to take them off the tray (at least, not that I've witnessed)....she just follows him and waits for him to throw them on the ground.

Ugly Sweater New Year's Eve party!

Christmas Pics

We mostly used the video camera at my parents house, so hopefully I'll get a chance to upload some videos later! But I DID finally got some pictures of Hudson with Nana and with Grandad.

Grandpa

My grandpa passed away on December 22nd. He was 82 years young.
I have many wonderful memories of him, all of which came flooding back to me while driving the back roads from Minnesota back to Kansas. We passed farmhouse after farmhouse; beacons of a lifetime of hard work. As Hudson was fussing during this trip, I put in a CD he loves: Elizabeth Mitchell's "You are my sunshine." Track number 6 is called "Jubilee" and I thought the words were fitting:

"It's all out on the old railroad,
All out on the sea,
It's all out on the old railroad,
As far as I can see

Hardest work I ever did,
Was working on the farm,
Easiest work I ever did,
Was swinging my true love's arm.

Swing and turn,
Jubilee
Live and learn,
Jubilee

If I had a needle and thread,
Fine as I could sew,
I'd sew my true love to my side,
And down the creek we'll go.

If I had no horse to ride,
I'd be found a crawling,
Up and down this rocky road,
Looking for my darling.

Swing and turn,
Jubilee
Live and learn,
Jubilee"

We will all miss you Grandpa. Looking forward to seeing you again someday.
