"I love thee to the depth and breadth and height, my soul can reach, when feeling out of sight, for the ends of being and ideal grace...I love thee with the breath, smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death."

Yay for happy weekend weather

TMEA was awesome! It was great to spend a little time with my parents and I think they had fun with Hudson. I know Hudson had fun with them...he had a little bit of a grandparent hangover after they left and he realized he wasn't getting quite the royal treatment anymore.

We also had some awesome weather this weekend, so we went to the Botanical Gardens to enjoy some outdoor time. Hudson had a blast on the playground, although there was this little punk-kid kind of bullying him the entire time. I'd say the kid was 2 1/2 or 3 years old. He was Hudson's size, but could talk a lot better. Anyway, he kept getting in Hudson's way and kind of trying to push him. Parents were NO WHERE in sight. Well, there was a group of 4 adults (two couples) laying on a blanket about 30 feet away, facing the OPPOSITE direction of the playground, drinking beer, just having a great, relaxing time. Nearby this group there was also a group of 12-16 year old kids throwing a football around. Well, apparently, the football had interrupted the "couple-time" and a fight ensued. I'm talking a fight, where the kids were talking smack to the adults and vice versa. Cop came out and everything. Interestingly enough, when the cop showed up, so did this little punk-kid's dad. It was the loser that was too busy laying on his little blankie with his girlfriend, drinking a beer, to notice that his punk-kid was bullying my boy. And it's not so much the bullying that I mind. I can handle that. Hudson can handle that. I just CAN'T IMAGINE not watching my son on a playground. We were on that playground for a solid 45 minutes and not ONCE did that "dad" check in on his son. NOT ONCE. He could have been A) gone. B) injured C) laying face down in the stream a few feet away.....who knows what else. I mean, seriously!? Be a parent.

Sigh. Not that I'm a perfect parent. I'm not, although I try to be a better mom each and every day. And I DO. WATCH. MY. KID. I'll say that....

Snow Week!

I'm sorry to report that I was EXTREMELY lazy during my snow week off and didn't manage to take any pictures of the snow with my phone...I think Darrin took some with our other camera, though, so hopefully I can post some of those soon.
We have had lots of bonding time as a family this week; it has been AWESOME!
I think we're all ready to go back to work/school/normal routine, but we had so much fun staying up late, sleeping in (sort of....as much as Hudson allows) and cooking breakfast, popcorn w/movies and hot chocolate.....Hudson 'played' in the snow one day, but wasn't too sure about it.
It will be interesting to hear what kind of sounds my band makes tomorrow after having a week off! And soon, Grandma and Grandpa will be here to watch Hudson while Darrin and I go to the TMEA convention!

Last weekend, before all the snow, we met some friends at Buffalo Wild Wings.
That seems to be our restaurant of choice when we go out to eat now, mainly because it is loud, so if Hudson screams, you have less of a chance of him being heard.

Last, but not least, this video is from today. I know I'm his mother, and I'm supposed to say this, but I think my son is a genius.
:)
