"I love thee to the depth and breadth and height, my soul can reach, when feeling out of sight, for the ends of being and ideal grace...I love thee with the breath, smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death."

Funny faces

Hudson has been super happy the past few days.  We changed his formula on Saturday and I think it's working much better for him.   He's really starting to be awake for a good part of the day and he's almost smiling!  These pics were taken after his eyes were getting tired.....he's trying really hard to keep them focused!

Update

Hudson slept from 11pm until 4am last night!   That's a first and we're very excited.  Now, hopefully, we can repeat that again tonight, right??!!   We ate again at 8am and now he's been napping all by himself in his crib for an hour this morning!  This was a skill that he normally could do until two days ago when all of a sudden, the only thing that calmed him was being held.   I'm really hoping the past two days were just a growth spurt, 'cause he was not happy.

Here are some more Morgan pics....you can tell she's still a shining star in our family.  She's adjusting but still gets very frustrated with the decrease in attention.

More pics

Here are some more pics from the past few days....

Peace, finally

Hudson has been a big fussbucket all day long.
Mommy is exhausted.  I'm so thankful to have such a wonderful husband who checks in and truly cares about how I'm doing at home while he's away.  Thank God for friends, too, that can tell me they've been through this as well, and the fussing won't last forever.
Here he is in all his glory.  Shhhhhh.....he FINALLY fell asleep.

Darrin's Reunion

We had tons of fun in Salina this weekend!  Darrin had his 20th class reunion and Hudson got to spend lots of quality time with Nana and Grandad.  The drive was a little longer than usual with Hudson having to stop to eat every three hours, but other than that, it was good.  He didn't fuss too bad and the few times he did, he calmed down pretty quickly.  I'm no longer afraid to travel with him, but it is definitely a LOT easier with Daddy along for the trip.

A Night in the Life....

Last night:

We fed Hudson around 11pm and then put him in his crib.
He slept soundly until 2:30, at which point I got up and got his bottle ready and walked into his room to pick him up.  I was whispering sweet little somethings into his ear and turned around to sit in the rocker, and lo and behold, Morgan had gotten into his dirty diaper stash in his closet.  Again.  Yes, that's right.  I said "again."

It was everywhere.

At this point, Hudson has gotten louder and he's not messing around.  He's ready to eat.  I felt like this was cause enough to wake Darrin.
So I go to our bedroom, turn on the light, and there was a dirty diaper laying right beside Morgan.  I just pointed to it and said, "There's plenty more where that came from."
Darrin got up and cleaned what could be cleaned without busting out a vacuum.  (The vacuuming will be left for me today - it was quite fun).   Scolded the crap out of Morgan (we both took part in that).

Around 3am, I fed Hudson, burped him, and finally put him in his crib around 4am, when I thought he was sound asleep.  I go lay down in bed and say a quick prayer that I'll be able to get just a few hours of consistent sleep.  I'm just drifting off and then I hear it.   The persistent, rhythmic squeak of hiccups from Hudson's room.  I let him squeak for a little while, hoping it will go away.  With each squeak, I just know he's becoming more and more awake.
After about 10 minutes, the squeaks now come with little cries.

Morgan runs down the hall and rings her doorbell. (Of course, she needs out.  She just feasted on about 8 diapers.)   I go let her out and then get Hudson, who is quite annoyed by his own hiccups at this point.  We rock for about 15 minutes until the hiccups are gone and he's asleep.  I put him in his crib and go let Morgan in.  I lay down in my bed and looked at the clock (4:58).   Once again, said a quick prayer.

Slept an hour and a half.  Woke up  at 6:30 to feed Hudson.

I love my dog.  I love my dog.  I love my dog.

Daddy Pics

Well, Hudson is doing awesome!  He is SUCH a good eater!  He loves his food.....he doesn't even want to stop to burp, and he lets you know that, too.   He's had a few nights lately where he sleeps for 4-5 hours at a time, which is awesome.  Usually, it's about 3-4 hours at night before he's hungry again.
He's really starting to be awake during the day.  He smiles and even laughs in his dreams.  We're still working on smiling while he's awake!
