You all know I'm a band director. About 3-4 times per week, a student tells me that their instrument is broken, only to be amazed when I pick it up and play every note on it just fine.
Now, here is where the analogy comes in:
I took Brody back to the doctor last week because I was very concerned about the sounds he makes while eating. He makes some noises with his throat while he's eating that Hudson never made. It's like he's breathing IN while eating....anyway, it was enough to alarm me since he was pulling away from the bottle and had several feeds within two days that he pretty much refused to eat. He was arching his back and spitting up and seemed generally uncomfortable.
I saved the bottle to feed him at the doctors office, hoping to show the doctor what he does and how fussy he is. Well, he took all 4 ounces of that bottle like it was no big thing, best thing he's ever tasted in his life. Then he burped without me even trying and proceeded to fall peacefully asleep on me, all the while our pediatrician was watching. This, after they weighed him in at a whopping 8 lbs, 9 oz.....Needless to say, he's fine. She does think he has reflux based on what I've described him doing and prescribed prevacid. He's doing much better since we've been giving him that and seems MUCH more comfortable. We also switched him over the the gentlease formula that we used with Hudson, and that has seemed to help, too.
I've come to realize that Brody pretty much exists to Hudson in one of two ways:
Crying or Not Crying.
Those are really the only two descriptors he uses when he mentions him.
He also said the other day, that he was a "big boy" and Brody was a "little boy"....
I wish I knew what Hudson was thinking about all this, but he's been so patient and kind.
I'm so glad he's eating better, that must make you breath easier while feeding him! Hudson is SO big and being such a great big brother, yay!
