"I love thee to the depth and breadth and height, my soul can reach, when feeling out of sight, for the ends of being and ideal grace...I love thee with the breath, smiles, tears, of all my life; and, if God choose, I shall but love thee better after death."

Anniversary weekend
We went to Gruene, TX last weekend for our 5th wedding anniversary and it was AWESOME!
It was about a four-hour drive, not bad at all. We stayed in the Gruene Mansion Inn Bed and Breakfast and everything was within walking distance (GREAT restaurants, over-priced antique shops and Gruene Hall, Texas' oldest Honky Tonk....been open since the late 1800's and has never closed its doors). We woke up early on Saturday morning to go Fly-fishing on the Guadalupe River with our guide, Kevin, who was awesome. Darrin has done some fly-fishing before, but I never had....we both loved it. I caught a little-bitty sunfish (no one jumped for the camera on that one). Darrin caught two trout, one of them a 5-pounder.
This week has been "back to reality" with Darrin working hard trying to tie up loose ends at Paschal HS and transition to his new job at Irving Macarthur HS. We are both VERY excited about the changes in our life. We both have new jobs and I've got to learn how to be a working mother. I brought Hudson to daycare Wednesday and Thursday this week and he LOVED it. Yesterday, he was so worn out that he slept from 7:30pm until 9am this morning. I had a rough time Wednesday and cried when I dropped him off, but yesterday was better. I know the first few weeks of school will be difficult and I'm hoping the more I can do this summer to prepare both of us, the better.

Playdate
Last week, we had a playdate with my friend, Jessica, and her two boys, Cooper and Jackson.
It was great to get out of the house and hang out with friends! Hudson had fun playing with the boys and I got to have mommy talk with another adult (always a plus for a stay-at-home-mom!). It's always good to get advice, too! I didn't get a picture of Cooper, but he's 3, so it was nice to talk about potty-training and time-outs and all of the other things I have to look forward to! Thanks, Jessica!

More pics
Hudson is obsessed with our DVD player/sound system. Obsessed, I tell you.
This, and remote controls....and Morgan's water bowl. Still.
Anyway, life is good, although EXTREMELY hot and humid down here. We used to occupy much of our day outside on the front lawn, in his swing in the backyard, on the hammock, and in our wagon. Lately, it's been too hot to go outside for momma.
We have a playdate with my friend, Jessica, and her two boys today, so looking forward to that!
Tomorrow, a cook-out. Thursday, I'm going to the end-of-year dinner at Huffines (the MS where I'll be teaching next year). I'm super excited to meet all the other teachers! Busy week!
Then my mother-in-law Katie will be here Sunday and Hudson and I will go with her to Houston to visit Darrin's sister (Mel) and her kids. Darrin can't come with us because he's got to make the big bucks and teach at the TCU Band Camp!

Memorial Day Weekend
We had a great Memorial Day Weekend! Went and saw a movie - which is more of a rarity these days! Went to a friend's retirement party on Saturday, BBQ on Sunday and then went to the Baxter's yesterday. Hung out at Peggy's pool with Gloria yesterday afternoon...I'm a little sunburned. Hudson isn't quite sure what to think of the pool yet....I need to get him in swim lessons so that he's ready for the summer! Darrin's back at work today and I'm bringing Hudson to one of the childcare centers I liked to check it out for a half day....gotta ease into this. I'm already very emotional about the childcare aspect of me going back to work. I still know that I made the right decision. I absolutely miss teaching and I think I will be a better mother having that outlet....but it kills me that he'll be with someone else all day. I'm sure it will be harder on me than him....we'll see.
